COURSE SUMMARY
This two-day program introduces managers to the CINERGY® Coaching approach as a way of enhancing their staff development and management skills.
Leaders participating in this program report these skills have transformed the way they engage with staff and others to address challenging issues in the workplace.
PARTICIPANTS
The Leader As Coach program is for managers and supervisors assisting staff to deal with a range of workplace issues. These may include:
- managing interpersonal conflicts
- responding to staff complaints
- addressing team tensions
- preparing for difficult conversations
- planning for negotiations
- giving feedback and
- supporting individuals to deal with change.
COURSE CONTENT
This two-day workshop will prepare managers and team leaders to apply a coaching approach in the workplace, whether informally, as a part of day to day interactions, or formally as part of staff supervision.
In this two day workshop teaches participants will:
- learn a proven model for coaching staff
- understand the importance of individual needs, values and identity in the workplace
- address interpretations and assumptions that maintain the status quo
- help staff to recognise the impact of their behaviour
- assist people to find their own solutions
- discover new ways of investigating and managing risk
- learn about the dynamics of conflict
This program introduces important skills such as powerful questioning and responsive listening techniques which underpin effective staff development. While this model was initially developed to assist staff manage conflict it is now being used in a range of contexts.
METHODS USED IN WORKSHOP
Through skill-building exercises, discussion, simulations, demonstrations and role plays, participants develop and practice conflict coaching techniques and skills.

Julie Walker has worked with Cinnie Noble, the founder of Cinergy®, in Canada and Australia. The first accredited trainer in this model in Australia, Julie works extensively with senior managers and employees to assist them manage interpersonal workplace and team conflict. She has now conducted over 20 public and in-house Conflict Coaching Training Programs throughout Australia, as well as continuing to provide a range of consultancy services.
